Group strategises to boost Nigeria, Brazil’s trade ties
A Nigerian international business consulting firm, Infoplus has said that there is need for Nigeria to boost its business relationship and trade volume with Brazil in the areas of affordable housing, agribusiness, Information and communications Technology (ICT), retail franchising as well as renewable energy.
Speaking at a seminar in Lagos recently to showcase potential of business relationship between Brazil and Nigeria, principal consultant for the organization Ndudi Osakwe said that it was high time for the two countries to explore their similarities in promoting trade and investment.
“Brazil is a country that faced what Nigeria is facing currently; they have edge in key areas where Nigeria can benefit, especially in the areas of affordable housing and agribusiness. They have the kind of less sophisticated system that Nigeria can adopt easily, we therefore see that Nigerians can tap into such business relationship”, Osakwe said.
Osakwe who urged Nigerians to strap up effort in utilising the trade opportunities, said that Nigeria stands a better chance to attract investor across the world with it growing influence on the continent and the world at large
“We have identified areas that Nigeria can benefit from Brazil. Being a strong emerging economy in the world, Nigeria share similar financial system with Brazil and this can be harnessed to promote the nation’s economy”, Osakwe said.
He added that the relationship would deal with the challenge of housing and unemployment which has remained a precarious challenge across the country.
It would be recalled that the minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, earlier said that Nigeria and Brazil would work together to double their bilateral trade volume by 2015.
