Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc has taken its youth empowerment agenda a step further by hosting students of Starfield Schools in an interactive career and financial literacy session aimed at preparing them for the future.
The initiative, tagged: ‘Empowering the Next Generation’, was held at the company’s Lagos headquarters as part of its ongoing professional development and mentorship programmes for young Nigerians.
The engagement offered students firsthand exposure to the operations of a leading insurance and financial services provider, while highlighting ethical standards, professional responsibilities, and career prospects within the insurance sector.
Teams from various departments at Mutual Benefits led the discussions, sharing their career experiences, the roles of their units and the skills needed to excel in the industry.
The company’s Head of Corporate Communication, Ellen Offo, said the programme reflected the organisation’s broader mission to protect lives and contribute to nation-building through mentorship.
“We believe in creating access to knowledge and opportunity, and today’s session reflects that belief,” Offo said.
The students participated actively, asking questions on topics ranging from actuarial science and risk management to marketing in the insurance industry. Corporate Marketing team member, Kemi Bejide, described their questions as “mature and forward-thinking”, expressing optimism about the future of the profession.
Also speaking at the event, a teacher from Starfield Schools, Rosemary Anyeaji, commended the visit, noting that it gave the students a deeper understanding of the work environment and opportunities in the insurance sector.
