JMG donates solar power system to health centre

JMG Limited, an electromechanical solutions provider, has commissioned a solar-powered energy system at the Agboyi-Ketu Primary Health Care Centre, marking the second of such interventions in Lagos State’s primary healthcare system within 12 months.

The installation, which includes a 10-kilowatt hybrid inverter, 18 N-type solar panels and a 20-kilowatt-hour lithium battery system, is designed to provide an uninterrupted power supply to the healthcare facility, ensuring continuous operation of critical medical equipment and services.

Speaking at the commissioning, Group General Manager of JMG Limited, Rabi Jammal, described the initiative as a reflection of the company’s belief that reliable power is a fundamental right rather than a privilege.

“This initiative represents more than a donation. It reflects our belief that reliable power is a right, not a privilege.

Energy access is essential to life, healthcare and human progress,” Jammal said, adding that the project reaffirmed the company’s commitment to a cleaner, greener and more resilient future.

The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, Adetola Abubakar, commended JMG Limited for the intervention, noting that it would eliminate power outages during critical medical procedures, including caesarean sections and urgent operations.

“What this donation translates to is that there shall be no more sudden power outages during childbirth, especially if it’s through caesarean sections. No power cuts during urgent operations,” Abubakar stated.

Permanent Secretary of Lagos Health District II, Dr Dayo Lajide, described the solar installation as a “game changer” for healthcare workers and patients alike, noting that the facility would henceforth enjoy 24-hour power supply compared to the previous six to seven hours it was getting.

“Putting a solar system in a facility is a game-changing event. Not just for the patients, but also for the healthcare workers,” Lajide said, acknowledging that JMG had previously executed a similar project in Bariga in 2024.

Executive Director of JMG Limited and President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Francis Meshioye, said the company’s focus on healthcare facilities was a strategic decision by the board to maximise social impact.
