Lagos State is set to host the country’s largest automotive parts show, as the West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS) will be held from May 17 to 19.

More than 100 exhibitors from Nigeria and around the world are expected to showcase up-to-date developments and products in the auto parts and services sector to more than 3,000 visitors from West Africa.

According to the organisers, the event will focus on local businesses and representation from more than 20 countries. These include India, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Thailand, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, the UAE, Poland, the United State of America, and Turkey.

The show, which will be held at the Landmark Centre on Victoria Island, Lagos, is endorsed by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), and its founding partner, Africa’s largest auto spare part market, Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA).

WAAS is organised by BtoB Events, which also runs the highly popular Food and Beverage West Africa show (taking place in June) and Beauty West Africa show (in November).

The Managing Director, WAAS organiser, BtoB Events, Jamie Hill, in a statement, noted that he was looking forward to seeing the regional automotive sector come together again.

“We are delighted to be able to bring the long-anticipated return of the West Africa Automotive Show back to Nigeria for its first post-pandemic edition.

“Demand for exhibition space has been very high, which reflects the strong desire from the market to get back to business and make up for a lost time. The impact of the pandemic on international trade was huge, so the exhibition will act as a perfect platform for businesses to find new suppliers from around the world and suppliers to find new customers across the region,” Hill said.

Other partners of the West Africa Automotive Show 2022, according to the statement, include Auto Spare Parts & Machinery Dealers Association (ASPMDA); AMDIE (Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency); National Automotive Design and Development Council; Residents Automotive Components Dealers Association of Nigeria (RACDAN); National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS); New Motor Spare Parts Dealers Association, Yangobra, Kano; New Auto Spare Parts Dealers Association, Nkpor, and Abuja Motor Spare Parts Dealers Association (AMSPDA).

The BtoB Events managing director stated further that it brings together a team with vast experience and a wealth of expertise in exhibitions and conferences working for leading FTSE 100, Fortune 500, and EURO STOXX 50 companies.

“The team has previously overseen a portfolio of eight exhibitions across Africa and was responsible for the launch of what was West Africa’s largest beauty exhibition from 2014 to 2016. In addition to the West Africa Automotive Show, they have launched Beauty West Africa and Food and Beverage West Africa. Their experience in regional exhibitions is unrivalled globally,” Hill added.
