Sundry Markets Limited, operators of Marketsquare Supermarkets, has clarified the circumstances surrounding the temporary closure of its Sapele Road store in Benin, assuring customers that the outlet is fully compliant with state tax and regulatory requirements.
In a statement released by the company on Friday, management said the store was reopened shortly after authorities reviewed the submitted documentation. “We assure our valued customers and stakeholders that Marketsquare is fully compliant with the exacting tax laws and other obligations in the State. All necessary evidence has been promptly provided to the relevant authorities, and the store was reopened shortly after,” the statement read.
The company further noted that it is maintaining active engagement with state authorities to prevent similar misunderstandings in the future. “We are in active engagement with the relevant authorities to ensure smooth communication and avoid such misunderstandings in the future,” the statement added.
Sundry Markets emphasised its commitment to statutory compliance and the trust of its customers. “As a responsible corporate citizen, we remain committed to full compliance with all statutory obligations and to maintaining the trust of our customers and stakeholders.
