Zenith Bank commits to global standards, bags certifications

Zenith Bank Plc has pledged commitment to global best practices, as part of efforts to deepen its brand and ensure good customer experience.

The Chairman of the bank who made the pledge as he received three global certifications on Information and Security technology said, the bank is now set to offer more value addition for investments.

The Bank was awarded the British Standards Institution (BSI) for Information Management System ISO/IEC 27001:2013, Information Technology Service Management System ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 and Business Continual Management System, ISO 22301:2012.

“Our commitment to these internationally accepted standards stems from a resolve to deepen customer experience through greater information security, an efficient IT management system and a robust business continuity plan that emphasizes the protection of the customers and their investments in an increasingly unpredictable business environment.

Certification to these three standards is strong proof of the bank’s commitment to implement policies and practices that meet globally recognised standards,” Ovia said.

However, the Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Peter Amamgbo said that “Zenith Bank is proud to have achieved this milestone, technology is at the core of our business strategy in order to meet the needs of our customers. For us, the customer is the reason we are in business, therefore it is essential that we deliver exceptional customer services. Certification to these standards will assist us in doing this.

“Becoming certified to these three standards provides evidence in our efforts to comply with local and international regulations relating to data protection, privacy and IT governance.

We hope through implementing ISO/IEC 27001, it will give greater confidence to our customers and various stakeholders that the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details and information entrusted to us is protected securely.

ISO/IEC 20000-1 acknowledges our high level of efficiency in IT service provision and our ability to continuously improve the delivery of IT services. ISO 22301 will help us identify potential threats and unexpected disruptions to our organisation and make sure we have a robust plan and solution in place.

Therefore if incidents happen the bank will be prepared and in a position to respond effectively,” he stated. According to the Project Director, Global InfoSwift (GIS), Afolabi Oke, we are indeed very proud to be part of the Zenith banks success story. This is an affirmation that Zenith Bank has adopted and complied with three of the most one of the most reputable and recognised standards globally.

According to the Bank, the certification process was initiated by engaging a consultant, GIS to carry out an initial gap analysis on bank’s entire infrastructure and applications. Based on GI’s pedigree and experience in the areas of ISO 27001, ISO/IEC 20000-1 and ISO 22301 they were chosen as the consultant to help implement these standards.
