NSE market capitalisation rises further by N71billion

The bulls maintained its dominance on the trading floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), as more blue chip stocks joined the league of gainers, resulting to a further rise in market capitalisation by N71billion.

Specifically, at the close of trading yesterday, the All-share index rose by 205.47 points or 0.5 per cent from 37,503.75 recorded on Tuesday to 37,709.20, while market capitalisation increased by N71billion from N13.061trillion to N13.132trillion.

On the price movement chart, 32 stocks recorded price appreciation, as Nestle topped the gainers’ chart with 25.00 kobo to close at N1315.00 per share, while Forte Oil followed with 2.05 kobo to close at N43.20 per share.

Unilever added 1.79 kobo to close at N41.89 per share. UACN gained 0.60 kobo to close at N17.50 per share. Cadbury appreciated by 0.58 kobo to close at N12.33 per share. EcobankTransNational Incorporated added 0.52 kobo to close at N16.98 per share. Guaranty Trust Bank gained 0.50 kobo to close at N42.55 per share.

Dangote Flourmills appreciated by 0.32 kobo to close at N10.07 per share. Fidelity Bank and Champion Breweries each gained 0.18 kobo to close at N1.99 and N2.24 per share respectively.

Eight stocks constituted the losers’ chart led by Mobil Oil with 2.85 kobo to close at N159.65 per share. West African Portland Company followed with 1.00 kobo to close at N49.00 per share. PZ Cussons dropped 0.47 kobo to close at N22.25 per share.

National Salt Company of Nigeria shed 0.25 kobo to close at N15.35 per share. Stanbic IBTC depreciated by 0.05 kobo to close at N41.80 per share. Livestock Feeds lost 0.04 kobo to close at N0.84 per share.

NPFMicro Finance Bank shed 0.03 kobo to close at N1.28 per share. Morison also depreciated by 0.02 kobo to close at N0.55 per share.

Wapic Insurance was the investors’ delight in volume terms with 76 million shares valued at N38.4million.

Fidelity Bank followed with 60 million units worth N119million. Tantalizers accounted for 43 million shares valued at N21million. FBN Holdings exchanged 43 million units worth N302million. First City Monument Bank traded 31 million shares valued at N35million.

Investors exchanged 441 million shares worth N4billion in 4,263 deals, down from 1.10 billion units worth N4.80billion that changed hands in 4,089 deals on Tuesday.
