GIG Mobility Nigeria has stressed the need for wider technology adoption in the mobility sector, saying digital innovation remains critical to improving travel convenience, expanding access to services and driving the future of transportation in Nigeria.
The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dr Enahoro Okhae, stated this at the 2026 GIG Mobility Product Conference in Lagos, where the company unveiled an integrated platform combining transport booking, flight reservations, vehicle hire and tourism services in one application.
Okhae said technology has changed how mobility services are delivered, allowing customers to access multiple travel solutions directly from their mobile devices without visiting offices or dealing with fragmented booking systems.
According to him, users can now book bus trips, hire vehicles, purchase flight tickets and arrange travel experiences seamlessly through a single digital platform.
He said a growing number of Nigerians had embraced digital solutions, adding that continued adoption would accelerate efficiency and improve customer experience across the transport industry.
“We are continuing to educate the industry and the public on what technology can do for them. That is why we are hosting programmes like this,” he said.
Okhae noted that the company’s technology ecosystem was built to simplify travel processes and remove traditional barriers associated with booking and mobility services.
He identified “HireX,” the company’s vehicle-hire marketplace, as one of its flagship innovations, providing users with on-demand access to premium vehicles.
He added that “PASS by GIGM” offers airline bookings, visa assistance, curated tour packages and related travel services through one interface.
The CEO also disclosed plans to introduce electric vehicles into passenger operations, supported by charging infrastructure being developed through ongoing partnerships.
He said technology would remain central to the company’s long-term growth strategy and leadership ambitions within the mobility industry.
“We are no longer just a company that moves people from Lagos to Benin. We are now a global mobility organisation.
“What we have built is an ecosystem where everything connected to travel sits on one platform — bus transport, airline tickets, vehicle hire, tours, and soon hotels and insurance,” he said.
“It became increasingly difficult to keep telling people we were just a bus company. The demand was clear: people wanted more, and we had to evolve,” he added.
Also speaking, Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, represented by Dr Quadri Adebowale, said integrated mobility systems were essential to tourism development and economic growth.
She noted that efficient transportation connects people to business opportunities, culture, entertainment and enterprise, while poor mobility systems could slow city growth.
