Project Fix partners government on agribusiness value chain infrastructure

To further aid access to infrastructure needed to drive agribusiness value-chain in the country, Project Fix Nigeria Limited has partnered with the Federal Government under a public-private partnership initiative to provide services to entrepreneurs.

The President of Project Fix Nigeria Limited, Olusegun Kowontan, said the initiative which is a World bank/ETF assisted-Lagoon cage fish farm jetty and a 25-acre livestock farming value chain infrastructure cluster hinged on a public-private partnership initiative between the firm and Federal government, is to give economic empowerment to over 30million economic entities in 10 years.

He added that the project equally seeks to simplify access to equity financing, remove high cost of doing business in Nigeria towards making agric farming profitable for all.

Speaking during a tour of the facility in Lagos, on Wednesday, Kowontan said: “We believe at a critical time as this in Nigeria’s history, the time is apt for Nigerians to bring together the economic entities that will engage in industrial agric farming value chain/export riding on cooperative synergy effect to make it happen”.

He said the idea behind the scheme is to be a cooperative platform for people to access opportunities in the nation’s fishing industry saying that it is difficult to carry out any fishing activity without license.

“This is a federal government project where ‎we can make it open by providing cages for people to help them carry out their fishing operations.‎ This creates a bond between the host communities, the project and the federal government. We have the smoking kiln which does about 6000 kg.

“We are taking care of what we call the value chain system, a vertical-horizontal platform where from here, some people go into primary to secondary processing, marketing and production because the business of farming is in the value chain,” he said.

According to him, under this arrangement, the firm has received endorsements to empower youths under the ministry of youth and social development where the federal government is entitled ‎to 30 per cent of the profits realised from the programme.
