Schneider partners NVIDIA to boost Nigeria’s data centres with AI

Schneider Electric has joined forces with NVIDIA to advance the future of Nigeria’s data centres with the unveiling of AI-ready reference designs.
The initiative, with fully engineered reference designs, are laying the foundation for the latest AI factories, empowering data centre operators to meet current demands and be future-ready.

While Nigeria currently holds second position in Africa’s data centre market, the country is presently experiencing rapid growth in the data centre market, as it was valued at $648.4million in 2023 and projected to reach $972.53 million by 2032.

The two new AI-ready infrastructure solutions unveiled include the industry’s only integrated power management and liquid cooling controls framework, featuring Motivair by Schneider Electric liquid cooling technologies. Designed for seamless interoperability with NVIDIA Mission Control, the system enables operators to keep pace with the latest advancements in accelerated computing.

The other solution includes a reference design for NVIDIA’s GB300 NVL72 platform, supporting rack densities up to 142kW per rack for large-scale AI clusters such as NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD systems. The reference design includes information on four technical areas: facility power, facility cooling, IT space and lifecycle software.

Commenting on the development, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Schneider Electric, Jim Simonelli, said the initiative enables operators globally to design and incorporate next-generation power and liquid cooling controls infrastructure before the newest AI infrastructure solutions even arrive, while optimising for cost, efficiency, and reliability.

He said the latest reference designs co-engineered with NVIDIA for real-world applications, would enable data center operators to keep pace with surging demand for AI.

In his remarks, the Director of Data Centre Engineering at NVIDIA, Scott Wallace, expressed confidence that with unveiling of the new reference designs, a new era of accelerated computing, where integrated intelligence across power, cooling and operations in data centre architectures is assured.
