SecureID showcases 200m capacity smart card manufacturing plant to AfriGO

Africa’s smart card manufacturing company, SecureID, which hosted the leadership of AfriGO on a working visit, where it showcased its 200 million capacity smart card manufacturing facility in Lagos.

AfriGO, initiated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is a national domestic card scheme, which plays a vital role in enhancing the efficiency and security of domestic transactions.

During the visit, the AfriGO leadership was granted a tour of SecureID’s state-of-the-art facilities, where they observed firsthand the company’s production processes and its capacity to deliver smartcard solutions that are critical for Nigeria’s financial and digital ecosystems.

Speaking at the tour, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, AFRIGO, Ebehijie Momoh, noted that SecureID is more than just a manufacturing plant but also a symbol of what Nigeria can achieve with the right combination of government support, private sector innovation, and a commitment to excellence.

“We are proud to partner with SecureID in driving financial inclusion for last-mile users,” he stated.

On his part, Group Executive, Technology, New Business Development & Compliance, SecureID, Bami Akinlade, noted that as AFRIGO continues to enhance the domestic card payment landscape, SecureID stands ready to support this vision with its world-class production capacity, ensuring that Nigeria remains at the forefront of smart card technology in Africa.

He added that SecureID has the capacity to manufacture 200 million cards and a combined personalisation capacity of 160 million cards annually for smart cards.
