South Africa’s net gold and foreign exchange reserves were slightly lower at 41.153 billion US dollars in September from 41.244 billion US dollars in August, Reserve Bank data showed on Wednesday.

However, gross reserves ticked up to 46.126 billion US dollars from 46.078 billion US dollars previously. The forward position, which represents the central bank’s unsettled or swap transactions, was at 2.19 billion US dollars in September versus 2.497 billion US dollars.
