Underwriter deploys AI to deepen insurance access

Heirs Insurance

In a move aimed at widening insurance penetration while accelerating financial inclusion, Heirs Insurance Group has rolled out a digital platform expected to simplify insurance access for underserved populations across the country.

The insurer unveiled a multi-language, interactive artificial intelligence assistance, Prince AI, designed to break language barriers, improve insurance awareness, simplify policy purchase and renewals, while making claims processing easier for customers.

The launch coincided with the company’s fifth anniversary and reflected increasing competition among insurers to deploy technology-driven solutions to improve customer experience and deepen market reach.

According to the insurer, Prince AI provides instant responses to enquiries relating to insurance products, policy coverage, claims processing, and other insurance-related services.

The assistant supports multiple local international languages, including English, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese, among others.

Customers can also use the platform to purchase and renew policies as well as initiate and track claims through WhatsApp, the SimpleLife Mobile App, and the company’s website.

Speaking during the unveiling, Chief Digital Officer, Heirs Insurance Group, Peace Okhianmhense-Philips, said the innovation represents a major milestone in the company’s digital transformation journey.

According to her, the deployment of generative artificial intelligence would improve service efficiency while making insurance more accessible and customer-friendly.

“Prince AI represents the next phase of digital evolution. By embedding generative AI into customer experience, we are not only improving speed and efficiency but also humanising insurance,” she said.

She added that the technology would enable the company to connect more effectively with customers by delivering faster, more intelligent, and accessible support services.

The insurer noted that the platform was developed with adaptive intelligence capabilities, allowing it to continuously improve through customer interactions and provide more accurate responses over time.

A Lagos-based insurance analyst, Justice Ibe, noted that language accessibility remains one of the barriers to insurance penetration in Nigeria, particularly among underserved and informal market segments.

According to him, deploying AI platforms that support indigenous languages could improve financial inclusion and encourage wider adoption of insurance products.
