NCC explains wholly-owned licence to foreign firm

FOLLOWING complaints that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has granted a South African firm a landing rights licence for undersea cable services, the regulatory agency said at the weekend that there was nothing unusual about its action.
Specifically, the firm that has the rights, MTN Nigeria through its partners WACS South Africa Limited was granted landing rights in Nigeria and is supposed to serve as wholesale bandwidth service providers for Nigeria and other West African countries.
