Nigeria, Cameroun demarcate boundary
From Abosede Musari, Abuja
THE 2,000-kilometre boundary between Nigeria and Cameroun running from Lake Chad down to the Atlantic Ocean has finally been demarcated with the fixing of the pillar along the area as defined in 2002 by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
The exercise was performed at the border town of Banki, in Borno State from where about 3,000 pillars would be fixed along the boundary. Of this figure, 500 will be main pillars while 2,500 will be intermediate. The project was jointly carried out by the Nigeria/Cameroun Mixed Commission under the supervision of the United Nations.
