National Assembly May Override Yar'Adua's Veto On Extra Budget
The National Assembly may have concluded an arrangement to override President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's veto on the 2009 supplementary budget. The president forwarded to the two chambers of the National Assembly a supplementary appropriation bill of N353 billion to enable the Federal Government to implement some projects that the 2009 budget could not accommodate.
Addressing a press conference yesterday in the National Assembly, the chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Eseme Eyiboh said the House would engage in a constructive engagement on the issue, stressing that the chamber believed that the president would still assent to the bill.
