That was the day South Africans witnessed the inauguration of Nelson Mandela as the first black South African president. That day signaled an end to apartheid, an end to…

WITH last weekend’s conclusion of some suspended parliamentary and governorship elections in some states, Nigerians and the international community would be correct to come to the conclusion that the 2015 general elections have ended on a laudable note, and that in spite of some challenges, a new culture has evolved for the entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria.

PRESIDENT-ELECT Muhammadu Buhari is in many conceptual configurations a nascent novel and creative innovation in Nigeria’s political clime. SIR: The recent wave of xenophobic attacks in South Africa, especially against fellow Africans, is unfortunate, regrettable and condemnable. History will no doubt remember these killings, and the perpetrators will never be forgiven. This is because Africans, especially Nigerians, played a very vital role in the fight against apartheid in South Africa. Nigeria has spent a lot and accommodated a lot of South Africans in the spirit of brotherhood and Africa’s liberation. Now it is South Africans that are attacking their fellow Africans, killing them and looting their properties. It is an awkward and irrational pay back gesture.
