When King Jehoshaphat learnt that these three nations were coming against his country, he quickly mobilised the entire country (men, women, and children) to seek the face of God. He didn’t go first to take the inventory of his armoury. He had soldiers and weapons, but he first summoned the people from all the towns of Judah to fast and pray. And he led the prayers. This clearly shows you where his confidence lies. The word of God said that trusting in the arms of flesh, human wisdom, power and connection would always fail. We must learn to always take our matters to God, and then He will lead us to victory.

AT this season of lent, we are called to repentance. God calls each and every one of us to repent from our sins and draw near to Him. We are called to change our ways. Change is very difficult for most humans to accept. But we must change, whether we like it or not. Indeed, we change every second. We can never remain the same. But we have a choice to change for either good or bad. If you have been languishing in a particular sin for too long, you can decide to say enough is enough.

ONE issue that has been taunting our faith in the present generation is the dilemma of what Christianity should be. While some are attuned to Christianity of comfort, of modernisation and wellbeing, others stick to the Christianity of the cross, of the old, as it is written unequivocally in the Scripture. (Heb 1: 1-2)

There is faith that conquers Satan and all his agents; faith that conquers sin and all its consequences; faith that overcomes the world and the flesh; faith that conquers sickness and death; faith that conquers Pharaoh and his army; Egypt and all its magicians; faith that opens a way through the Red Sea; faith that brings permanent deliverance.

The Holy Communion, better known as the Lord’s Supper, which some denominations prefer to call the Holy Eucharist, is an essential ordinance in Christendom. But as important as it is, not all churches undertake this observance instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ, Who instructed that it should be acknowledged by the Church in His memory. This was demonstrated in 1 Corinthians 11:24-26 “And when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, this cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till He come.” In some people’s view, only church elders should observe it and if an individual has more than one wife, he is not qualified. How really should this act be observed? Are there conditions attached before anyone is allowed to undertake the rite? Why don’t all churches partake of it? Interestingly, while some clerics told CHRIS IREKAMBA that the act is unscriptural, others believe it is mandatory.
