When God created us, He equipped us with every good thing that we need to be successful in life, but many of us are not where God created us to be. God said that we would be the head and not the tail, and that we would be the top and not the bottom, yet many of our lives do not exhibit any of these promises of God. We have allowed our lives to label God as a liar.

Easter is a day of celebration because it represents the fulfilment of our faith as Christians. St. Paul wrote that, unless Christ rose from the dead, our faith is in vain (1 Corinthians 15:17). Through His death, Christ saved mankind from bondage to sin, and He destroyed the hold that death has on all of us; but it is His Resurrection that gives us the promise of new life, both in this world and the next.

The commemoration of Easter is to draw our attention to Jesus Christ as the Symbol of peace. It, therefore, becomes wise that the entire nation should use this period of Easter to foster peace and love in the country, as this is the only way we can acknowledge and appreciate what Jesus has done for humanity.

Professor Ben Nwabueze in my estimation is the greatest constitutional law scholar in human history. The depth and breadth of his seminal works in this area put him in a class of his own. It is manifestly so evident that A.V. Dicey, Wheare, De Smith, Laurence Tribe, Hodd and many other emerging Constitutional Law Scholars did not impact the subject in such a way and manner as Nwabueze did. Simply put, he is a genius.

According to him, “At the beginning it was not so rewarding financially. I first published my stories in 1985 in The Guardian Express, and I was not paid for my effort. I received my first payment in 1986 when I wrote for Prime People magazine; I was paid N25 per short story. I wrote cartoon stories for Climax magazine then, and was paid N50 for my efforts. But from1998 to 2000 when I wrote cartoon stories for Vanguard, it became rewarding as I began getting substantial amounts. I joined Sunday Sun in 2003 and was given a full page. I was paid very well too compared to the past. At the moment I am not earning millions but there is hope that in the nearest future one’s works will attract millions. This very profession is what I do for a living”.

EFFORTS aimed at realising a truly workable union in the West African sub-region are still a matter concern to governments and persons in the sub region. The Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) will be 40 on May 28, but a comprehensive execution of the ECOWAS treaty of 1975 and how that translates to better life for people is still work in progress, far from what it ought to be.
