
No fewer than 31 graduates of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, bagged First Class in the 2024/2025 session, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, has said.
Ologunorisa disclosed this at a news conference on Thursday in Okitipupa to herald the institution’s 3rd Convocation ceremony scheduled for March 4.
The VC said that out of a total of 995 graduates to receive their degree certificates, 367 bagged Second Class Upper Division, 495 made Second Class Lower while 102 graduated with Third Class.
Ologunorisa said that with the sound and qualitative academic records of the institution, both students and graduates could compete favourably with their peers nationally and internationally.
According to him, he met the university in commatose but had transformed it from a mere teaching to research institution and without a record of any strike.
The VC, who assumed duty on Feb. 23, 2022, said that he had increased the schools/faculties met on ground from three to seven with several courses.
“There are plans to commence School of Maritime, Transport and Logistics, School of Pharmacy, School of Basic Medical Sciences and programmes like Anatomy, Physiology and Physioteraphy by September,” he added.
Ologunorisa appreciated Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for restoring electricity to Ondo South, which had enabled students and researchers to carry out quality researches.
He also.appealed to the government for speedy implementation of budgetary provisions for OAUSTECH and other institutions in the state.
The VC further solicited support from the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
Ologunorisa appealed to the two commissions to complete abandoned hostel projects in the institution to enhance students’ accomodation.
