The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, PhD, CFR, has reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to policies and initiatives that strengthen education across Nigeria, calling it the foundation for sustainable national development.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Tolu School Complex in Ajegunle, a legacy project of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, Deputy Speaker Kalu described the initiative as a strategic investment in Lagos’ future.

The complex, which includes 36 schools and a stadium with 19 mini football pitches, goes beyond infrastructure—it opens doors to opportunities for thousands of young Nigerians.

Highlighting the importance of holistic education, Kalu emphasized the integration of academic and extracurricular facilities to foster discipline, teamwork, and resilience.

He commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his visionary leadership and President Bola Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes revitalizing education nationwide.

Ajegunle, historically known for its resilience and creativity, is now positioned as a hub for educational excellence, he noted.

Addressing students, the Deputy Speaker described the classrooms as “launchpads for greatness,” encouraging them to embrace the opportunities provided by the new complex.

Kalu also called for sustained investment in teachers, curriculum development, technology, and inclusive policies to ensure that every Nigerian child, regardless of background, has access to quality education.

“Today, here in Ajegunle, we are preparing Nigeria’s future. May this complex stand for generations as a symbol of hope, progress, and national pride,” he said.
