As the world grapples with the dual challenges of climate change and energy sustainability, lighting expert and entrepreneur, engineer Kevin Adagha, has revealed the transformative power of energy-efficient solutions and innovative lighting technologies.
Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of a recent workshop on sustainable lighting and energy management, the founder and CEO of Early Global Resources Ltd emphasized the importance of adopting cutting-edge solutions to reduce energy consumption while promoting environmental sustainability.
Adagha, a certified professional in LED lighting technology and a Channel Partner with Signify (Philips Lighting), has been a pioneer in introducing revolutionary lighting technologies in Nigeria.
His efforts have driven the adoption of Philips LED lighting, solar-powered outdoor lighting, and smart city lighting solutions across the nation. “Energy efficiency isn’t just about cutting costs; it’s about creating a sustainable future,” Adagha said.
“Lighting alone accounts for a significant percentage of global energy use, and by transitioning to energy-efficient systems, we can make a substantial impact.”
Under his leadership, Early Global Resources Ltd has spearheaded several high-profile projects, including lighting designs and specifications for projects in multinational corporations such as Shell, Dangote Industries, ExxonMobil, and Transcorp Hilton Hotels. Adagha’s firm has also been instrumental in executing LED retrofit projects that replace traditional lighting systems with energy-saving alternatives, contributing to lower carbon footprints and operational costs for businesses.
With a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a strong background in production engineering, Adagha combines technical expertise with business acumen. His company provides end-to-end lighting solutions, from conceptual design to installation, leveraging advanced tools like Dialux and AutoCAD to deliver precise and efficient project plans. “Every lighting project is an opportunity to redefine how spaces are illuminated, blending functionality with aesthetics while optimizing energy use,” he explained.
In addition to his work in lighting, Adagha has introduced innovative applications such as UV lighting for air and surface disinfection and Li-Fi technology, which uses light waves for data transmission by Signify (Philips Lighting).. These advancements align with global trends toward smarter, safer, and more connected environments. “The potential of lighting extends far beyond illumination. It’s about creating smart, adaptive systems that meet diverse needs, from health and safety to connectivity,” he noted.
Beyond his technical contributions, Adagha is a strong advocate for capacity building and local expertise in the energy and lighting industry. “Nigeria has immense potential, and by empowering local talent with the right skills and knowledge, we can achieve self-reliance in the sector,” he said.
Adagha’s role as a consultant and trusted partner to architects, project managers, and corporations highlights his ability to bridge technical and strategic perspectives. His work on projects such as Seven -Up Bottling Company Plc and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc underscores his commitment to delivering solutions that align with client objectives and global best practices.
In recognition of his contributions to the field, Adagha is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and an associate member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES). He is also on track to earn the prestigious NCQLP Lighting Certified Professional designation in 2025.
Reflecting on the future, Adagha envisions a Nigeria where energy efficient products becomes the norm, supported by widespread adoption of sustainable lighting solutions. “The journey to a greener future starts with small, deliberate steps—like choosing energy-efficient lighting systems that save money, reduce emissions, and enhance quality of life,” he concluded.
Adagha’s unwavering dedication to innovation, energy management, and environmental stewardship continues to position him as a leading voice in Nigeria’s sustainable development journey.
