Oando harps on HSE standards, celebrates five years without LTI

The indigenous operator of swamp drilling rigs services, at its annual safety week in Port Harcourt, Rivers State recently also used the event to commemorate five years without Lost Time Injury (LTI) on its Teamwork and Integrity rigs and three years without LTI on its Passion rig.

It also recorded an incident free 3,415,615 million man hours on all its rigs from 2012 to date.

The company, in a statement to The Guardian said event was held to further realise the company’s vision of having and consistently maintaining a safe workplace; its compliance with regulatory and statutory safety requirements, its commitment to ensuring its employees work in a safe environment and commitment to delivering world class services was further amplified at the event.

The Chief Executive Officer, Oando Energy Services, Bandee Badejo, said: “The ability of the crew to maintain five years of operations without witnessing an LTI is a reflection of Oando’s commitment to service excellence to both our internal and external stakeholders.”

He added: “This noteworthy achievement is a validation of the safe work culture, team spirit and compliance to EHSSQ processes on our rigs regardless of the rig’s operational status. I commend the team’s hard work and unrelenting commitment in maintaining an incident free rig in spite of challenges instigated by the current downtown in the industry.”

LTI is a measure of injury sustained on the job, capable of preventing a worker from performing or continuing a task or resulting in operational downtime.

It is an oil and gas industry benchmark that evaluates adherence to safety and environmental requirements in the course of operations. As a result, LTI is a critical Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for Oando’s conformity with best practices within the oil and gas industry.
