Oando to promote preventive maintenance culture in Nigeria

OandoOando Marketing Plc has commenced moves to promote the culture of improving vehicle maintenance in Nigeria.

Speaking during a free car diagnostic service and oil change in Lagos, the Head of Lubricants, Oando Marketing Plc, Lilian Ikokwusaid the organisation has seen the need to create awareness and increase investment in preventive maintenance for safety of motorists across the country.

She said the event, which was sponsored by its premium brand introduced earlier in the year, Oleum SYN, was a measure to reward customers and create awareness on the need to become familiar with the engines of their vehicles, particularly the oil requirements.

Ikokwu said: “Our investment has been along the line of preventive maintenance. We started training mechanics since last year. Last year we trained 100 mechanics and this year we just concluded training for 200 mechanics including ladies. Why we are doing this is to ensure that when the mechanics are in contact with the populace they will be able to educate them over the time then the effect will cut across the either population.

With this diagnostic event we will be sponsoring other social media campaign to educate people on why preventive maintenance is necessary.”

According to her, the organisation is not only giving back to customers but also helping them realise that checking the engine regularly will be able to give the engine what is needed for increased mobility and productivity in your career or business
“Nigerians do not really know that diagnostic can be run on cars of 1996 upward, so what we are doing today is creating awareness and helping Nigerians to get use to checking their engines and servicing them”.
