Presidency okays delivery of CNG conversion to public sector employees

In a bid to ensure the well-being of the citizenry, the Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGI) has concluded arrangement on the delivery of CNG conversion to 200,000 public sector employees.

In a statement on Friday, Mr. Kenechukwu Chukwu of the PCNGI Public Engagement department explained that a groundbreaking agreement between PCNGI and Public Sector Unions, aimed at achieving the goal, will hold next Friday.

She explained that other events have been lined up to celebrate the inroads so far recorded by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

She identified one of the events to include the signing ceremony of Arete Mini-LNG Project Investment of $6 million to drive expansion of CNG to the North.

She added that on April 15, the Phase 1 Flag off of the roll out of Tricycle Deployment program with NACTOMORAS/ Fed Ministry of Youths would also take place.

She further cited the commissioning of Critical Last Mile CNG Distribution Refueling Stations in Enugu, FCT, Lokoja, Port Harcourt, Ado Ekiti and Abia, expanding the nationwide footprint of CNG and enabling intra-state transport from key traffic centers of Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano scheduled for May this year as part of the activities lined up by the PCNGI.

She added that the handover of buses and launch of Targeted Conversion Programs to service men of Nigerian Army as well as the launch of Security Services Train the Trainer Program for CNG Conversion of Nigerian Army, Navy, Air force and Police Workshop Technicians will also take place before the May 29 democracy day celebrations.

Other activities includes Autogas Framework Operationalisation to enable seamless supply at discounted inlet prices for Auto CNG Sector in collaboration with GACN and NGML, and the Basic Awareness Training Launch for Auto Technicians and Artisans.

She also disclosed of the launch of six Sites in Phase 1 of the University CNG Infrastructure Program with MDGIF and Federal Ministry of Education billed to hold between May and June this year.


She insisted that the PCNGI work in the past year has been transformative as the delivery of the programs demonstrates its commitment to a rapid transition of the Nigerian transportation sector with CNG.
