22, 000 pupils seek admission into Ogun secondary schools
The Ogun State Ministry of Education Tuesday said a total of 22, 700 primary school pupils from both private and public primary schools wrote the qualifying test for entrance into public secondary schools with boarding facilities.
Speaking with journalists at the end of the monitoring exercise, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Segun Odubela, disclosed that the examination was for pupils who were seeking admission secondary schools
with boarding facilities.
Odubela, who was represented by the Director of Secondary Schools, Mr. Idowu Adegbesan, commended stakeholders for the success of the exercise, adding that
all qualified primary six pupils would be posted to schools close to their areas of residence.
“Let me tell you that merit will be considered, and admission into the schools will be strictly based on performance of the pupils. We will not compromise standards,’’ the commissioner warned.
There are 31 schools with boarding facilities in the state.
