About 281 students would be awarded first class at the forthcoming convocation of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) where about 13,481 students are expected to participate in the 2018/2019-convocation ceremony of the institution.

The vice chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe who disclosed this to journalists ahead of the convocation of the institution billed to hold between Monday, March 9 and Thursday, March 12 congratulated the best two students with the highest cumulative grade point (CGPA) Alimi Ibrahim Ajayi from the department of Mechanical Engineering, and Popoola Opeyemi of the department of Economics with CGPA of 4.98, 4.90 respectively.

“I am pleased to inform you that 281 students graduated in the first class division, with the faculty of Engineering coming out top on the list with 70 first class graduating students. A total of 2,139 finished in the second class upper division, while 2,870 are in the second class lower division, in the third class division, are 1,148 students graduating in the category while 117 with pass degree.’’ He added.
 
The university also launched the school anthem that has been long anticipated by the university community.

The ceremony will commence on Monday with the convocation lecture titled ‘‘The role of disruptive technologies in sustainable economic transformation’’ to be delivered by, Dr.Isa Ali Pantami.
