Since taking over the reins as the new Head of National Office (HNO) on Wednesday, December 9th, Mr. Olutise Isaac Adenipekun, has been busy acquainting himself with relevant government officials, parastatals and agencies.

Adenipekun, who took over from Mr. Charles Eguridu, two days earlier (December 7th), was on an introductory visit to the council’s contact ministry, the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), and the new chief federal government nominee on the council, Mrs. Anne O. Okonkwo, who is also the Director, Basic and Secondary Education in the FME.

In addition to this, the new HNO has also effected change of signatories to the council’s accounts among others.

The Guardian, however, reliably gathered that all things being equal, the new WAEC helmsman may announce the release of the Nov/Dec 2015 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) (Private) before next week runs out as plans for this were in top gear.

Born on March 5th, 1960, Adenipekun, who hails from Osun State attended St. Stephen Primary School, Ere-Ijesa and Ijebu-Jesa Grammar School, Ijebu-Jesa.

He graduated from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) in 1983 with a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Political Science. He also obtained an M.Sc degree in International Relations from the same university in 1987 and in 2012 he got a masters in Public Administration in Management of Educational Institutions from the Lagos State University, Ojo.

He joined WAEC on October 3rd, 1989 as an assistant registrar II. He rose through the ranks to become senior assistant registrar in 2000 and a principal assistant registrar in 2005. He was promoted to the rank of a deputy registrar in 2011.

Mr. Adenipekun has held several positions of accountability in the council, where he distinguished himself. At a time, he was also Head, Meetings and General Services Department, WAEC, Yaba; Head, Examinations Security, WAEC Branch Office, Umuahia, Abia State; Head, Aptitude Tests Administration Section, Test Development Division, Ogba and pioneer Officer-in-Charge, WAEC Satellite Office, Ikorodu, Lagos State among others.
