Arbitration confab will put Nigeria on global map, says Udeme-Ufot
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Chairperson of the Planning Committee of the First International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Africa Regional Arbitration Conference, Mrs. Dorothy Udeme-Ufot, at the weekend said the forth coming International Court of Arbitration (ICA) conference will put Nigeria on global map.
The learned silk, who spoke on the importance of the conference scheduled from June 19 to 21, said, there is a bright future for arbitration in Africa judging by the massive support received from such continental business giants as Globacom.
According to her, the finality of awards from ICA, which made it difficult to set aside its awards because of its thoroughness, has made it germane for Nigerian arbitrators and business to benefit from such conference.
She stressed that Nigeria as Africa economic hub has a lot to gain with the calibre of interests already shown our economy.
While extoling Globacom for supporting arbitration confab in Nigeria, she said, the event has indeed put Africa and in particular, Nigeria on global map. She enthused that the support shown by leading corporate bodies in Nigeria has been incredible and overwhelming.
The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo will be the Special Guest of Honour while other dignitaries are expected to grace the occasion from the private and government sectors, while experts are expected from Australia and other parts of the world to be part of the arbitration conference.
