THE yearly Thanksgiving of the Christian Pentecostal Mission Int’l with the theme: “Victorious Thanksgiving,” held at the church premises in Ajao Estate, Lagos, recently. The national event drew friends of the church from government quarters, as well as church members from other states of the federation.

In attendance were Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and her entourage from Lagos State and Abuja, which included former First Lady of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola, and Mr. and Mrs. Okey Ebuka among other personalities.

The General Overseer of the church, Rev. Dr. Obiora Ezekiel, and his wife, Rev. Dr. Mercy Ezekiel were elated at the crowd that graced the occasion.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Dame Abimbola Fashola praised CPM, especially the General Overseer, Rev. Dr. Obiora Ezekiel and his wife for being fervent in the Lord.

Tinubu, while appreciating God said: “In fact, it is like a double celebration for those of us in the All Progressives Congress (APC), because what people thought was impossible was made possible by the Lord. So, we give all praises to Him.”

Acknowledging that Nigeria is not there yet with regards to progress, she noted, “Nigeria is still a work in progress, which means that everybody has to put their all into this new Nigeria we are building for ourselves and generations unborn.”

Explaining the meaning of thanksgiving, Dame Fashola said: “Since I was young, I have been taught that whenever you wake up hail and hearty, you should give thanks to God. Whenever we give thanks in the church, we are saying ‘God thank you,’ for prosperity, good health and for granting us that grace to be alive. We have no other choice than to give thanks to Him.

For us Nigerians, we have a lot to thank God. For, instance, the elections were peaceful and now we have a government that is caring.

“Really, we should keep praying for our government to do well, because if this happens, everybody will be the better for it.

“I didn’t come here only during election periods. I have always been coming here because Mummy Ezekiel is my mother, while Daddy Ezekiel is my father in CPM. I love them so much, just as they love me. I love to be in the midst of God’s people.”
