Rather than join in propagating conventional ideas, which have not impacted the society immensely, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has challenged the Class of 2015 of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, to be exceptional in their thoughts and always come up with new, rather than conventional ideas.

According to him, doing so would give them an edge over their contemporaries either as corporate workers or job creators.

Speaking at the 5th convocation ceremony of the university, at which 292 graduating students received their first degrees, Ambode who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Elizabeth Olabisi Ariyo, said individuals with original ideas always have fulfilment in their future endeavours.

He said, “As you join the multitudes in the labour market, I want to implore you to think outside the box and catch in on opportunities that will stand you out and make you either the much sought after or employers of labour.

Congratulating the pioneer graduands of the institution’s postgraduate programme, he said the emergence of private sector participation in tertiary education, has substantially created added opportunities for the teeming secondary school leavers, since government-owned institutions do not have sufficient capacity for their placement.
Earlier in his remark, the vice chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, said the graduands did not only excel professionally, but also spiritually, as they were well groomed to overcome societal challenges.

Out of the 292 graduands, Olukoju informed that 13 graduated in the First Class Division, 113 with second   class (Upper Division), 119 earned second class lower certificate while 49 left with third class degrees.

He said the school reputed for its academic excellence remains committed to imparting godly virtues in all its products.

“Our graduates are bound for greater heights having being taught godly living, and exposed to exceptional academic training. I am convinced they would excel in their endeavours.”

Meanwhile, Miss Tolulope Oluwayemisi Lawal, emerged the best graduating student of the school, with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.69.

Commending the school management for providing a conducive learning environment, and her lecturers for their dedication and commitment to service, she said, “I Am so excited, blessed and I feel fulfilled. My emergence as the best students shows that indeed hard work pays.”
