Befitting healthcare, accommodation, feeding await Muslim pilgrims at 2018 hajj

Plateau State intending Muslim pilgrims to the 2018 Hajj exercise have been assured of adequate health care as well as befitting accommodation and feeding during the holy pilgrimage.

The Executive Secretary, Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Barrister Auwal Abdullahi, said he and other officials of the board had just returned from Saudi Arabia, on an inspection of accommodation and feeding arrangements, saying they were satisfied with what was on ground.
Abdullahi said health issue is a collective responsibility and “therefore the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board will not be in isolation. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), in synergy with the Federal Ministry of Health, has organised a workshop for the staff of States pilgrims boards in order to sensitize them on the issue of cholera and Lassa fever.”

He allayed the fears of the Saudi authority, saying that “the speculation that Nigerians have the tendency of spreading the disease is not true. The issues have since been nipped in the bud, because the minister of health has said in clear terms that Nigeria is not in any danger.”
“We in Plateau State pilgrims board, are doing everything necessary to sensitize intending pilgrims and also put health workers on red alert, in order to avert the influx of People with different ailments into the bandwagon of the intending pilgrims.”
The secretary, said his board has this year taken a drastic step and secured befitting accommodation, “so proximate to the holy Ka’aba, and also in terms of space and capacity, in tandem with the laid down principles of NAHCON,” to make trek able distance by pilgrims from home to the Mosque.
“We have contracted a very nice kitchen, and they are to provide a nice recipe to our pilgrims, they are to provide Nigerian local dishes, and they will provide all the necessary requirements of food, in terms of taste, quality and quantity,” he said.
