Clothes don’t make people but clothes definitely introduce them. An introduction may give you a right to be heard and might be all you need to close your biggest sale.

Clothes don’t make people but clothes definitely introduce them. An introduction may give you a right to be heard and might be all you need to close your biggest sale. Your clothes cover 90% of your body so 90% of your impression on your prospect will come from your clothes. Therefore, give attention to your clothes. You will always be addressed the way you’re dressed from your head to your toes. The only time your dressing may not matter in life is when you’re too young, too old or too rich. It is better to have only one quality clothing than ten cheap clothings, because quality clothing last longer and every time you wear them you have an opportunity to make a strong impression. Impression is reality and dressing well increases your self-confidence by a whopping 20%.

Here are ten recommendations to appear consistently outstanding;
1. Aim at looking irresistible and influential- this should be your outcome. Therefore don’t be in a hurry to purchase clothes; don’t buy what you like only buy what you love.

2. Dress intentionally; why are you wearing a skirt, not pants? Why are you wearing that shirt and tie colour combination? Determine why and how you want to look, then go for it. Surf the web, go window shopping, scan fashion magazines for creative ideas.

3. Practice dressing like people who dress in a way you admire. Who is a ‘power dresser’ to you; decide to dress like the person. This includes accessories, style, fit, cut, grooming and colour combinations. You don’t have to be exact but just get the idea then you will be creative with other styles.

4. If you’ve built rapport, you can ask those who dress in a way you admire where they get their clothes from. This will save you time searching for where to shop.

5. Be comfortable in any style you choose. Don’t force yourself to wear clothing accessories you’re not comfortable with.

6. Practice being impeccable when you dress. Style will not replace cleanliness and neatness.

7. Be ‘diligent enough’ to get your accurate clothing size. Accurate fit is as important as the quality of clothing.

8. Watch out for the details, to be sure there are no rips, shoes worn out or slight stains when you dress. Don’t think no one will notice.

9. Treat your clothes with respect. Once you get home place them on a hanger, don’t toss them around.

10. Launder whites immediately after they are worn. Starching your clothes (especially cotton whites) is not an option, it is a must.
Dressing well is not a gift. It is based on interest, attention to details then practice. You don’t need a lot of money to look good, just be creative. Iyore Ogbuigwe, Sales Expert
