In a bid to bring smiles to face of the farmers and users of Candel products, Candel Company Limited has launched a programme, tagged CleanFarm Project, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria and aimed at eliminating from farms herbicide bottles and remnants of agrochemicals, which pose significant health hazards to the ecosystem.

Candel Company is a leading agrochemical company in Nigeria, established on 10th of September 1992, as a private Limited company to develop market and distribute agrochemicals, specialised fertilizers and allied inputs to farmers in Africa.

Mr. Charles Anudu, the chairman and founder of Candel Company Limited at the Media Launch and raffle draw of the CleanFarm Project, said that, in compliance with global best practice in the safe and proper disposal of empty agrochemical containers, the Candel Company Limited has launched the pesticide bottle take-back initiative to protect farming families and the environment from negative effects of improper disposal of agrochemical containers.

He noted that, we discovered that pupils are using it as water bottles in school, in the mosque and even in the house, and where as, the bottles are not hygienic for anything consumable because of the severity of the chemical that was packaged in it.

Anudu said, “We came up with financial incentives of buying the bottle back from the farmers at N40 on each bottle. And to hype this, we decided to include a raffle draw in which we will be giving away a total number of 48 generating sets and 12 tricycles to 60 lucky winners and build it up to the grand finale, with an award of one million naira star prize on 30th of November”.

The Managing Director, Mr. Emmanuel Kattie, while addressing guests and the media at the premier raffle draw held at the Lillygate Hotel in Lekki said, the event will hold monthly for a period of six month.
