The College of Medicine, University of Lagos (UNILAG) has called for support from alumni, friends and other stakeholders in the area of funding to deepen medical education in the institution.

The college is shopping for $20 million to equip the school with world-class facilities.

Speaking at its yearly fundraising dinner and award, Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Council, UNILAG, Senator Lanre Tejuosho, said the fundraising was aimed at boosting medical education and fully equipped the institution with modern gadgets.

He, however, expressed fears over brain drain in the sector and called on those that have gone abroad to avail the country of their knowledge and also contribute to the development of the college.

The vice chancellor, Prof Folashade Ogunsola, tasked old students to support the school and ensure that it remains the best and can compete anywhere in the world.

She also expressed concern over mass exodus of medical practitioners abroad, and called for urgent attention to halt the trend.

Provost of the college, Prof David Adewale Oke, commended old students who contributed to making the institution rank among the best in Africa.
