Court arraigns man for destroying church fence
An Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos has arraigned a 57-year-old man, Ismaila Arepo, charged by the Police for allegedly pulling down a fence belonging to a Church, identified as Qua Iboe Church in Lagos.
The accused, who resides in the Abule Egba area of Lagos, was said to have singlehandedly destroyed the fence following a disagreement with the church over ownership of its premises at No. 8, Thompson Street, Abule Tailor in Abule Egba.
He was arraigned last weekend before Magistrate Martins Owumi, on two- count charge of malicious damage and breach of peace.
The Prosecuting officer, Inspector Steven Molo told the court that Arepo committed the alleged offences at noon on December 24, 2015, at No. 8, Thompson Street, Abule Tailor.
“That the defendant, at the same time, day and place, did conduct himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by pulling down a fence of Qua Iboe Church,” he added.
According to the charge, the offences contravened Sections 57(a) and 337 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
