Court dismisses suit against arrest of Disu’s suspected killers

A LAGOS High Court sitting at Igbosere yesterday dismissed the application filed by leaders of Okunraye community in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State over the murder of Managing Director of Lekki Trade Zone (LFTZ) Limited, Mr. Tajudeen Disu, on October 12, while resolving a land dispute.

The community leaders had filed a suit seeking to stop the police, Inspector-General (IG) of Police, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, from further arrest and detention of the indigenes of the community.

In another development, the police have discredited reports attributed to leaders of the Okunraye Community alleging that the police killed Disu. The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Joseph Offor, condemned the allegation, describing it as a cheap blackmail and diversionary.

Apara, while urging the court to grant the application, told the court that the applicants had been forcefully ejected from their homes and denied means of livelihood and also deprived of their rights.

Justice Raliat Adebiyi, while ruling on the application, dismissed all the prayers sought by the applicants except a prayer seeking to serve all respondents in the suit. The judge adjourned the matter to November 10, 2015 for hearing.
