The Executive Director of Africa Development Initiative (ADI), Mr. Sunday Obiukwu, has identified education as one of the instruments that maximises the creative potentials and skills of individuals for self-fulfillment and for the general development of the society.

EducationThe Executive Director of Africa Development Initiative (ADI), Mr. Sunday Obiukwu, has identified education as one of the instruments that maximises the creative potentials and skills of individuals for self-fulfillment and for the general development of the society.

Obiukwu, who also described education as a factor of social development that brings about positive changes for prosperity in the society, stated this during an event organised for children as part of programmes to mark the annual ADI Year in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.

Obiukwu, who said, “an educated population is essential to a nation’s prosperity,” added that great countries also know that economic dominance and national unity depends on creation of a system of higher education.

According to him, countries that devoted themselves to educating young people enjoy much higher living standard.

Speaking further, Obiukwu noted that education was designed to address a balance of three areas namely- knowledge, skills and attitude, which forms an integral part of the required mix for a prosperous country.

He explained that for Nigeria to regain her lost glory and become the enviable giant of Africa, she should, like other developed countries begin to build a strong educational system.
