Enugu govt opens scholarship applications for indigenes

The Enugu State Government has opened applications for its 2025 Scholarship Awards, the state’s Scholarship and Education Loans Board announced on Thursday.

The programme, approved by Governor Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, is open to indigenes of Enugu State pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and teacher education studies.

According to the board, the scholarship categories and available slots include:

Undergraduate Scholarship: 500 slots for 100 and 200-level students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Teachers’ Scholarship: 1000 slots for indigenous teachers in Enugu State Government schools who aspire to obtain their Master’s degree and are willing to commit to teaching learners and students in Enugu State Government schools for a period of 10 years after the scholarship award.

Postgraduate Scholarship: 100 slots (Master’s and PhD) in Nigerian universities.

To be eligible, applicants must be a confirmed indigene of Enugu State and have a valid admission for undergraduate/postgraduate study or teacher education beginning in the 2025/2026 academic session.

Required documents include:
•⁠ ⁠Valid LGA of origin Identification Letter
•⁠ ⁠Valid Admission Letter
•⁠ ⁠Letter of Acceptance of Admission
•⁠ ⁠Attestation Letter from your Traditional Ruler (HRH)
•⁠ ⁠And for teachers — an Employment Letter with the above documents.
•⁠ ⁠Passport Photograph.

2.⁠ ⁠Select your scholarship category (Choose only ONE CATEGORY):
• Undergraduate Scholarship
• Teachers Scholarship
• Postgraduate Scholarship.

3.⁠ ⁠Fill in your details, upload all the required documents in one PDF file (not more than 2MB) and submit.

Applications start on 14th November 2025 and end 12:am on 28th November 2025 for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, while teachers’ applications will end on 8th December 2025.

The state government announced that the examination will be an online CBT, so you can participate from anywhere and that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the online exam. Ensure your internet connection is strong for the exam.
