About 312 students drawn from 21 secondary schools in Lagos were imparted with nuggets that would enable them to live a fulfilled life.

At the programme themed: “Youth for the future: Power of focus,” organised by Healing Heart Foundation (HHF), the Founder, Mrs. Sophy Mbanisi, said the event was to draw the children’s attention to the numerous vices and the negative effects such may have on them as they grow.

Mbanisi expressed concern over cases of cultism and drug abuse in secondary schools, and called for concerted efforts from all concerned.

“What prompted today’s event is that there is a particular area where we have a lot of schools. Almost everyday, after school, they would start fighting and upon enquiry, got to know that they belong to rival cult groups, and I began to wonder about cultism in secondary schools?

“Hence, we decided to invite schools and sensitise the students on the dangers of these vices and the damage it could have on their destiny in future,” she said.

Mbanisi said the foundation has also adopted Estate Nursery and Primary School, and Local Government Nursery and Primary School, while also assisting widows and indigent families.

Assistant Director, Nursing Services, Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, Mrs. Rachael Adagunodo, addressed the students on the dangers of drug abuse and addiction, while Deputy Director, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mrs. Rita Geli, spoke on the topic: “Sensitising youths on dangers of drug abuse.”
