Ogewho-Iyede Pry School shines

Parents and other stakeholders have felicitated with Ogewho-Iyede Community Primary School in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, on the overwhelming success recorded in the Cognitive/Placement Examination.

Head Teacher of the school, Comfort Onoruema, who broke the news in an interview with The Guardian, said all the pupils came out in flying colours.

“Most candidates at the examination made a distinction; there was no pass,” she said.

This, she attributed to the hardworking teachers, dedication of the pupils, and unwavering support from parents and the community.

According to her, the collaborative effort between the school management and stakeholders created an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.

Onoruema further commended the Delta State government for providing instructional materials and infrastructural upgrades, noting that such interventions played a significant role in boosting the pupils’ performance.

The head teacher expressed optimism that with sustained commitment and encouragement, the school would continue to maintain, and even surpass its current academic standards in future examinations.

Also speaking, the Secretary of Iyede Kingdom, Chief Henry Imo, applauded the state government for its continued investment in rural education, stressing that such support was key to bridging the educational gap between urban and rural areas.

He urged the government to sustain the provision of modern learning facilities, recruit more qualified teachers, and ensure prompt payment of staff salaries, to further motivate the teaching workforce.

Imo, who also hails from Ogewho-Iyede, lauded parents and guardians for prioritising the education of their wards despite prevailing economic challenges, adding that the remarkable performance of the pupils was a testimony to what could be achieved when communities unite behind a common goal.

He appealed to philanthropic individuals and corporate bodies to partner with the community in sponsoring outstanding pupils and constructing more classrooms.

“Our joy today is not just about the excellent results,” he said. “It is about the hope these children represent for the future of Ogewho-Iyede and Delta State as a whole.”
