Experts propose preventive measures to reduce healthcare costs
MEDICAL experts have stressed the needs for an intensified effort on health awareness, which could prepare and enlighten Nigerians on measures to avoid illnesses with a view to reduce healthcare costs.
The experts, which gathered at the unveiling of Quality Medicare International Limited, in Lagos, said: “lack of proper awareness on preventive measures remains a critical challenge to the nation’s health sector”.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the firm, Abimbola Holloway, advised Nigerians to do regular medical check up and avoid nurturing fear about their medical status.
Holloway said: “It is cheaper to prevent diseases than to cure it. If we have the mindset of preventing a lot of these illnesses; then it will work out cheaper healthcare services to everybody and that is the whole idea of my organisation. Diseases are better managed if they are known and are prevented early through necessary advice and health education.”
