Farounbi, others harp on training, retraining of media professionals
Stakeholders in the media industry, last week, stressed the need for training and retraining of journalists for optimum performance.
The stakeholders include an ace broadcaster and the country’s former Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Yemi Farounbi; the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun; a former commissioner and Coordinator of International Institute of Journalism, Ibadan campus, Alhaji Bolaji Kareem and others.
They stated this during a training workshop for broadcasters organised by Freelance Broadcasting Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Oyo State Chapter, held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Farounbi maintained that training and retraining are important for broadcasters and media professionals for effective delivery and discharge of duty.
He emphasised the need for media personnel to understand the theory of broadcasting.
On his part, Olatunbosun stressed the need for journalists to always retool their skills.
The Oyo State Chairman of FIBAN, Seun Awodele, said the training was meant to update the skills of broadcasters and media personnel. He also appreciated media outfits for releasing their staff for the lecture.
