President Buhari to grace 32nd Koranic recitation in Katsina

President Muhammadu Buhari is to grace the 32nd Koranic Recitation Competition which is kicking off this morning in Katsina state.Buhari, who had been in the state over the weekend in a five-day stay, is expected to be be back again as Special Guest of Honour for the event.

President Muhammadu Buhari is to grace the 32nd Koranic Recitation Competition which is kicking off this morning in Katsina state.Buhari, who had been in the state over the weekend in a five-day stay, is expected to be be back again as Special Guest of Honour for the event.

The event which is to last for ten days, would be the third of its kind the state would be hosting since its creation in 1987.Briefing newsmen yesterday on state of preparation for the programme, chairman of the event, Justice Musa Danladi said six categories of recitation would be contested for, while 32 states of the country including Abuja, would be participating.

Danladi also said that a total of 125 males and females would be reciting the Koran, with prices that include cars, motorcycles, among others, to be won as prices, and that more than N119 million is expected to be expended for the event.He said the Sultan of Sokoto,  Sa’adu Abubakar would serve as father of the event, while governors of Osun and Zamfara states, Rau’uf Aragbesola and Abdulaziz Yari, respectively are to chair the opening and closing ceremonies.

Danladi also said that 18 embassies of Muslim countries have indicated willingness to attend the closing ceremony, while representatives from several neighbouring countries are expected to Grace the event.He however allayed fears about security during the event, assuring that measures have been put in place to ensure protection of lives and property.
