Saudi Fatwa rejects ‘Abrahamic House’ project

The Saudi Fatwa House has taken a clear stance against the idea of uniting religions, contrary to the request of Mohammed bin Salman, and has declared those promoting it as committing disbelief (kufr).

With this verdict, the Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Ifta in Saudi Arabia appears to have resolved the ongoing controversy regarding the “unity of religions” and the “Abrahamic House” project.

Essentially, the Permanent Committee reviewed questions and media articles concerning the call to unite religions (Islam, Judaism, and Christianity), which includes proposals like building a mosque, church, and temple in the same location, or printing the Quran, Torah, and Bible in a single volume. And after deliberation, the committee resolved as follows:

The foundation of Islamic belief is that no religion other than Islam is true. Islam is the final religion and has abrogated all previous religions and laws. Allah says in the Quran 3V19: “Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.”

The Quran is the final divine book and has abrogated the Torah, Psalms, Bible, and all other scriptures. Alongside abrogation, the Torah and Bible have been distorted, as stated in various verses of the Quran.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last prophet, and there will be no prophet after him. Anyone who does not accept Islam—whether Jew, Christian, or otherwise—is a disbeliever (kafir), an enemy of Allah, and if they do not repent, they are destined for Hell.

The call to unite religions is a deceitful and dangerous conspiracy aimed at weakening Islam and leading Muslims away from their faith.

According to the Permanent Committee, “one consequence of this call is the erasure of the distinction between belief and disbelief, and the abandonment of the Muslim stance of disavowal toward disbelievers. This would ultimately undermine jihad and the struggle to elevate the word of Allah.”

It insists that “any Muslim who promotes this call becomes an apostate from Islam, as it contradicts the fundamental principles of the faith. It is not permissible for a Muslim to support this call, participate in its seminars, or spread its ideas.

“Publishing the Quran, Torah, and Bible in one volume or building a mosque, church, and temple in the same place is impermissible, as it undermines the superiority of Islam.”
