President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies have been lauded as a divine blueprint for Nigeria’s progress by Dr. Idris Oni, a lecturer in Islamic Studies at Crescent University, Abeokuta.

Speaking during Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN) 21st yearly Ramadan lecture titled ‘Resource Management and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects’, Oni commended the president’s emphasis on competence over political affiliations in appointments, a move he believes is crucial for effective governance.

He asserted that Nigeria is on the path to progress by implementing workable sustainable economic advice derived from Islamic principles. He quoted the Quran, emphasizing the importance of financial prudence, mutual consultation, and the appointment of experts for effective resource management.

“There is no problem confronting Nigeria that is not surmountable,” Oni stated, highlighting the nation’s abundant natural and human resources. He stressed the need for saving revenue, collaborative decision-making, and granting experts autonomy to drive implementation.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, praised the Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN) for its commitment to education and youth development. He urged them to uphold the lessons of Ramadan – self-discipline, sacrifice, and empathy – in their contributions to national development.

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Isiaq Adekunle Salako, represented by Dr. Abdul Hafeez Agboola, called on Muslims to embody the teachings of Ramadan and show love to their neighbors. He expressed optimism for Nigeria’s future with collective cooperation and prayers.

The Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, represented by Chief Muhammed Ismail, encouraged Muslims to strengthen ties with Muslim monarchs for community development.

MAN President, Prof. Dhikrullah Yagboyaju, highlighted the lecture’s role in complementing government efforts towards good governance. He also mentioned the association’s support for members through business financing and Islamic cooperatives, as well as ongoing prayers for President Tinubu.
