Last week, the historic campus of Daru D’Dawah Wal Irshad in Isolo, Lagos, became a centre of profound intellectual and spiritual reflection as prominent Islamic scholars, academics and community leaders gathered for the book launch and presentation of An Exposé on the Palestinian Issue.

Originally written in Arabic by the legendary public intellectual, educationist and founder of the institution, the late Sheikh Mustapha Zuglool Sanusi, the newly presented edition features a meticulously prepared Arabic reprint alongside a highly anticipated English summary.

The publication aims to bridge a critical linguistic gap, offering non-Arabic speakers, both Muslim and non-Muslim alike an uncompromised, historically rigorous look into the genesis of the Palestinian struggle.

The event featured deeply moving tributes to the author’s legacy. Leading the eulogies, the Founder/Director, Markaz Nurul Islam, Fadeelatus-Shaykh Daud AbdulMajeed (Alfa Nla), described the late Sheikh Zuglool as an irreplaceable titan of Islamic scholarship who put Islam at the forefront in all his endeavours.

Recalling the author’s unwavering foresight, Sheikh Dawud referenced the book’s central prediction: “Sheikh Zuglool wrote that Arab leadership would ultimately return to Palestine. To the skeptics who say this is impossible, we say, watch and see. When the time comes, this book will stand as a monument of testimony to his vision.”

Sheikh Dawud also praised the author’s lifelong dedication to spreading Arabic literacy and his unwavering loyalty to his own mentor, the legendary Sheikh Adam Abdullah Al-Ilory.

Adding to the tributes, the guest speaker, Khaleefatu-Zuglool, Daru D’Dawah Wal Irshad, Fadeelatus-Shaykh Dr. Ishaq Mustapha Zuglool Sanusi, spoke extensively on the author’s miraculous intellectual breadth, noting that Sheikh Zuglool’s knowledge spanned traditional Islamic sciences, including Fiqh and Hadith, as well as modern secular sciences like chemistry and physics.

To explain the book’s stance on international diplomacy regarding Palestine, Sheikh Ishaaq Zuglool shared a powerful allegory frequently taught by the late author .

“A young man named Mahmud was left three precious heirlooms by his parents, a wrist watch, a flower vase and an expensive gold chain. When a thief stole them, Mahmud went to the Police to report the crime, only to find the Police Chief wearing his stolen watch. When he protested, he was jailed.

“He then took his case to the Judge, only to spot his stolen flower vase sitting on the judge’s desk. When he spoke up, he was imprisoned again. Finally, he went to the Governor, only to see his missing gold chain shining around the Governor’s neck.”

“The meaning of this story is clear,” Khalid explained. “The thief is the occupier. The Police represents Great Britain and the Balfour Declaration. The Judge represents the international court system and the Governor represents Western superpowers, the United States. How can we take our case to the very people wearing our stolen jewelry? Sheikh Zuglool’s message was clear. We cannot find justice in their courts. We must go back to Allah.”

Anchoring the review of the book, Sheikh/Prof. Abdur Rahman Lawal, lauded the book’s exceptional academic rigour. He emphasized that the book is far more than a political tract.

“In writing this book, Sheikh Zuglool feared no one but Allah,” Professor Zakariyah stated. “From the very first page, he establishes that this fight is not merely an ethnic Arab issue, but a deeply rooted religious matter for the entire global Ummah.

He paints Palestine as the orphans of the global stage, reminding us that when victory is achieved, we will know that the orphan has the ultimate Helper.

The event concluded with an urgent, sobering warning from the Mudeer (Director) of Daru D’Dawah, Sheikh Ridwanullah Mustapha Zuglool Sanusi, who drew attention to pages 33–39 of the book.

The Mudeer cautioned that the expansionist tactics used to systematically displace Palestinians are quietly being replicated in local Muslim communities.

He warned of targeted land-purchasing strategies in Muslim-majority neighbourhood.

“We are sleeping, what happened to Palestine is happening in our own surroundings. We must learn from what Sheikh Zuglool wrote, check ourselves, and remain vigilant. I urge our Muslim clerics and leaders to be deeply conscious of our neighborhood and protect our heritage before it is too late.”
