Govt Urged To Support Agricultural Broadcasting

THE Chief Executive Officer of Gbola Agro-Allied Media Studio, Ibadan, Mr. Rasheed Adegbola has urged federal and state governments to encourage agricultural broadcasting, especially on radio and television.
Adegbola made the remark while delivering a public lecture on, “The pains and gains of rural development broadcasting: an independent broadcaster’s perspective,” organised by the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, University of Ibadan.
He noted that the bulk of agricultural production in Nigeria came from grass root farmers, adding that the farmers were very important stakeholders in
agricultural production.
Adegbola, who is an agricultural broadcaster on a local Yoruba language radio expressed the need for a legislation that would support free air time for agricultural broadcasting on radio.
He said he became involved in agricultural broadcasting as an initiative when he discovered a dearth of agricultural information in the nation’s electronic media.
Adegbola, who retired from the civil service and started his broadcasting career in 2011 advised the students to develop themselves in agricultural communication so that they could be self-employed after graduation.

Broadcasting can be said to be the sending of messages directly or transmitting information ominidirectly or transmitting information. Broadcasting is the distribution of audio or video content to a dispersed audience.in the context above govt urged the broadcasting for agriculture cause it helps the grassroot to get information and know more about agriculture and also helping farmers get connection with stockholders and investor for growth in the agricultural aspect of the country.
Broadcasting is the act of sending message directly to the public. I strongly support support the govt on the urge of more of agricultural broadcast so as to help the public know more about agriculture.
