Former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, has urged private companies and organization to increase the period of maternity leave for working nursing mothers to build a healthy generation.

He made this call on Tuesday while delivering a keynote speech to mark MTN foundation 10th anniversary.

Fashola noted that the three months given to working nursing mothers is not enough to enhance the development of any child, which will be threatening to the future generation.

It has been proven that exclusive breastfeeding enhances the development of a child and which will enhance our national development. Private companies and organizations should review and extend the period just like my administration did from three months to six months. This will encourage hardworking and career driven mothers carry out their jobs effectively.
