Sanwo-Olu’s wife calls for humility, devotion at Lailatul Qadr eve prayer

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has urged Muslims to embody humility and steadfast devotion even as the sacred month of Ramadan comes to a close.
She made the call during a short goodwill message at the Lailatul Qadr Eve Prayer held at the State House Mosque Complex, Ikeja.
Addressing the congregation, the First Lady highlighted the significance of Lailatul Qadr, known as the Night of Majesty, which is regarded as the holiest night in Islam.
She encouraged the Muslim believers to seek divine mercy, forgiveness, and guidance, emphasising that Ramadan is not only a time for spiritual reflection but also an opportunity to practice virtues such as kindness, patience, and humility.
As the Ramadan fast approaches its final days, the First Lady encouraged Lagosians to extend their acts of charity, reflect on the teachings of Islam, and continue to pray for the progress of the state and the well-being of its people.
The event featured a thought-provoking lecture by Sheikh Luqman Balogun from Conference of Islamic Organisations, CIO, Lagos, who underscored the importance of humility as a core character trait of a devoted Muslim.
According to Sheikh Balogun, humility entails having a modest and unassuming attitude toward oneself and one’s achievements.
He noted that adopting humility fosters stronger relationships, promotes personal growth, and enhances resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
The cleric also stressed that true humility is not about self-deprecation but rather about acknowledging one’s blessings while remaining grateful and compassionate.
The solemn prayer session was graced by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, and the Body of Permanent Secretaries, who joined the First Family of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and his wife in deep supplication and devotion.
